On October 3, Amber Rose and a few hundred women marched the streets of LA for “SlutWalk”. This walk was created to stand up for sexual positivity. I will admit at first I was very spectacle of the march but as I read more into the cause I became very interested. Amber Rose along with her organization Amber Rose Foundation hosted the 2015 “SlutWalk” in LA.
SlutWalk was created in 2011 due to a speech that was given by Police Officer Michael Sanguinetti addressing campus rape at York University. He is quoted to have said, “I’ve been told I’m not supposed to say this – however, women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized.” This created the “SlutWalk” movement. Since 2011 women have been marching in honor of victims of sexual assaults how people try to say that a women in inviting that behavior by the way she is dress or for what she is known for. So for the short version…”NO MEANS NO!”
Women in Canada, Asia, and Latin American have all taken part in the “SlutWalk” movement. It is empowerment for women to stand up against the negative views at them and letting people know that they too are human.
